BAROMETRIC SENSOR - SIAP+MICROS PA9880 The digital barometer is the VAISALA model PTB220B.
The sensing element of PA9880 pressure sensors is a symmetrical silicon capsule that deforms depending on the atmospheric pressure. The transducer is characterised by a very low thermal expansion coefficient and a negligible mechanical hysteresis: both the above characteristics allow high performances mainly in terms of long time stability.
Two gold electrodes are soldered onto the internal surfaces of the capsule in order to create a variable capacitor. An atmospheric pressure increase induces an approach of the electrodes that causes an increase in the capacitance value. The capacitance value is then converted into a voltage by an integrated circuit included in the sensor.
The sensor includes also a digital circuit whose function is to linearize the transducer response and to compensate the pressure data in all the operating temperature range. |
